Hello readers,
Several of you have asked questions about what is in the student reading folders. And that makes sense. I have not—for several months now—talked about what exactly I’m putting into the students’ folders and how I decide what to take out and when. This short video should explain it. Remember, my students use these reading folders every day when they come to my center. If they are not at my table with me, then they are reading independently nearby from their folder. I can expect them to be on task and engaged because everything that I have put into their folder is just right for them, right in their zone of proximal development.
*All materials you see in the video that were made by me, plus a whole lot more, are available for free to paid subscribers. Video content and ideas are free to everyone! Please share!
Have you thought about asking your principal for a subscription to Busy Bee Kindergarten? It might be easy to convince them since you get a whole year’s worth of teaching ideas, strategies, materials, and videos all based on the science of reading and proven to be effective. At this time of year, principals are working on next year’s budget; it’s a good time to ask. Some subscribers have paid via a purchase order from their school.
Another thing you might want to ask your principal is if they—or the district as a whole—would like Miss Busy Bee Kindergarten (aka me) to visit your area and do a formal or informal training. I believe I will have some time for this in the future (summer 2023 and beyond) and it would be lots of fun to visit some of you. Let me know if you need additional information to share with your principal or superintendent.
