Hi Susan! The easiest way to get the materials you're looking for is to email me. I will then send you links to the Google docs or folders. A couple of things I have are Word documents (like the tracking sheets you're looking for), but I can attach those to an email. Please email me at missbusybeekindergarten@gmail.com and I'll send you everything.
Hi Patricia! I created these lists and, yes, they are the ones that go into the students' reading folders. This is my third year using them and the work so well! The progression of phonics seems perfect and the students move right along through all the phonics I am teaching them. I also include Read and Draw, the fluency ladders/Continuous Texts, and Listen and Spell words and Listen and Spell Sentences. They are all fun and effective ways for kids to apply the phonics I am teaching them. I saw that you bought me a coffee. Thank you! How fun! I appreciate it! And I can't believe you've already taught so many years in first grade and second grade!
You have probably addressed this somewhere, so I apologize for a question you may have answered in another post, but what about the irregular (heart) words? Do you infuse those into these word lists? I've seen them in your continuous text sheets - is that where kids get to practice them? I am trying these word lists 2/3 through the year, and we have learned LOTS of irregular HFWs that I want to have kids practice. Do you recommend they get inserted into continuous texts instead of word lists? I'm thinking yes since reading irregular words in the context of a sentence will make it more likely they will have more success figuring them out.
The 34 word lists include only decodable words. I have been slowly introducing heart words and other words they need to know to read sentences since early fall. We practice them a couple times a week before dismissal, while doing lunch count, and in the continuous texts and read and draws. We also do high frequency/heart word sorts (look for samples in photo gallery posts).
I’m learning to navigate your website with my subscription. Thank you for sharing your wonderful teaching strategies. Do you send a letter home about practicing these word lists?
Hi Katie! I apologize - I do have a lot of posts and they are not organized by categories. I don't think that's a feature on Substack, but I will look into it. I know it would be helpful to subscribers. This year I am NOT sending word lists home. Of course, I always did in the past because the words were in order of frequency and there were some hard ones on the first few lists. Now, the lists are organized by spelling patterns and flow very nicely as far as I can tell so far. Once my kids learned the first list (VC words) the logical next step was CVC words and most transitioned into them easily. They are moving through the lists at a steady pace and already reading much earlier than students in past years so I do not feel the need to send them home. Plus, parents won't "do" it the same way I do and I know the students would be frustrated.
Hello! I am excited to use these materials in some fashion even though the year is quickly slipping away. I have looked for the tracking documents that you use with the word lists and math facts and more. Do you have those somewhere? I was thinking maybe there is a tab or menu that I am missing that has those kinds of things listed. Thank you!
Are these the list you put into their reading folders? I am planning on creating individual folders over my Thanksgiving Break. I saw you also include the pyramid sentences.
Hi Randee! I appreciate the word lists and all of your research/videos. I will subscribe since I'm too far away to buy you a coffee. Thank you so much for sharing all of your work! Amy
You are so sweet! You can actually click on the link to buy me a coffee. I wish we really could get coffee; that’d be great fun. I’m glad you’re able to make use of some of this stuff!

Hello! I cannot open all the word list. Can you send me a file of them all? They just spin when I open them!
Sorry to hear. Sorry for the hassle. Try this:

If that doesn’t work, let me know and I’ll try something else. Randee
