The first week in October is a big week in my classroom.
Big changes happen at my teacher table during morning centers.
First, I introduce the students to their reading folder. They’ll be using their reading folder every day now for the rest of the school year.
Next, I teach them how to read “independently” using their reading folder.
Last, I dive right in to my new weekly small group instruction schedule:
Mondays - Read and Draw, Decodable/Readable Books, or other activities
Tuesdays - Phonological Awareness Training/Testing and Word List Testing
Wednesdays - Word Reading morphing into Reading Continuous Text
Thursdays - Word Building morphing into Writing Continuous Text
Fridays - Phonological Awareness Training/Testing and Word List Testing
There are new routines to learn, new activities for me to teach, and plus I try to video for you so you can see what it looks like before it’s all running smoothly. There will be many more videos to come so you can see what each day of the week looks like and how each morphs and grows along with the students.
