thank you! I liked the information about not pushing to read the whole word before the child is ready. My curriculum says "if the student still has to sound out, tell them to do it in their head and then say the word." Maybe this is because we spend five or six months practicing blend ladders which they can do fluently by now? ta, te, ti, to, tu...etc. with the short sounds. Some of my kids can read cvc words easily, and others are still sounding out.
Yes! If they still need to sound out--which most kindergartners do--I definitely want to HEAR them doing it, not wonder what they're doing in their head. Thanks for the feedback.
